Best Place for Kid’s Parties: Inside or Outside?

Can’t decide whether to have your child’s party inside or outside?

Simply watch this video or read the notes below and you’ll have everything you need to make a decision about where to have your child’s birthday.

One of the most frequently asked questions is whether to have the party indoors or outdoors.

And here’s my recommendation: your child’s special day will be more fun, safe and successful if you have it indoors.

Over 10 years of experience as a professional family magician has taught me some important lessons that apply here…

  • If the little ones get too hot or too cold, then they can get cranky and won’t have a good time. In many cases, that also means you won’t have a good time either.
  • Safety can become an issue when there are bees, insects, hazards and all kinds of distractions outside. All of these things can take away from this special day and the time that you and your guests have to sit-back, relax and enjoy the party.
  • Weather is unpredictable: It can be sunny at one point and rainy with a chance of a tornado the next. Do you really want to worry about planning a rain date – or worse – having to cancel and reschedule the party? The extra time, tears and disappointment are just not worth it.

So what do you do if you still want or need your child’s party to take place outdoors?

First, have contingency plans for things that could go wrong (see above). For example, if it’s going to be a hot day and there’s a possibility of temper tantrums, then keep your guests in good spirits by stocking the cooler with refreshments and lots of ice.

Second, you can handle accidents and scraped knees by having some bandaids or a first aid kit handy.

Third, don’t get caught in the rain –in other words, avoid disappointment by planning and sharing the back-up plan well in advance.

And last, but not least, if you’re planning on arranging an appearance by a professional children’s entertainer, then consider having the show inside so that your child – and all of your friends and family – can focus on the show and have fun. You can always move the party outside after the show.
